LaGuardia Airport guide for Long Island travelers

Three terminals, the shortest drive of the New York airports and the least forgiving traffic. Here is how we plan LGA trips from the Island.

Which terminal are you flying from?

LaGuardia finished a full rebuild and now runs as three passenger terminals. They are close together but not connected in a way that makes walking between them practical with luggage, so confirm the terminal on your boarding pass before travel day.

Terminal A (Marine Air Terminal)
A small, separate terminal used by limited regional service. It sits apart from B and C on the west side of the airport.
Terminal B
American, Southwest, United and several other domestic carriers.
Terminal C
Delta's LaGuardia operation, consolidated into one terminal.

Where a chauffeured car meets you

LaGuardia routes pre-arranged for-hire vehicles to a designated pickup area rather than the terminal curb where taxis and rideshares queue. Your chauffeur confirms the exact level and door once you have your bags — you do not need to figure it out from the signage.

The practical sequence is the same as anywhere: text your chauffeur when you land, text again when you're at baggage claim, and walk out to a car that is already positioned. If you'd prefer to be met inside with a name sign, ask for a meet-and-greet when you book.

How early to leave

LGA is the shortest run from most of Nassau and western Suffolk, and that is exactly why people misjudge it. The mileage is small; the variability is not. The Grand Central Parkway, the LIE and the Cross Island all bunch up at predictable hours, and a twenty-eight-mile trip can take fifty minutes or two hours depending on when you leave.

We plan LaGuardia pickups against the hour of day rather than the distance. Give us your flight number and we will send a recommended pickup time in writing, with the margin already built in.

LaGuardia questions we get asked

Where does a car service pick up at LaGuardia?
Pre-arranged black car and limousine pickups use the airport's designated for-hire vehicle pickup area, not the taxi line. Your chauffeur confirms the exact door and level with you once you're at baggage claim.
How early should I leave Long Island for a LaGuardia flight?
Plan to be at the terminal about two hours before a domestic departure, then add the drive from your town and a cushion for the hour. LaGuardia is mostly domestic, so the terminal time is shorter than JFK — the drive is the part that varies.
Is LaGuardia faster than JFK from Long Island?
Usually in miles, not always in minutes. From Nassau and western Suffolk LGA is typically the shorter run, but the Grand Central and the LIE can erase that advantage at peak hours.
Do you track LaGuardia flight delays?
Yes. Send the flight number and we adjust the pickup to the actual landing time rather than the scheduled one.
What vehicle makes sense for a LaGuardia business trip?
A sedan for one or two travelers with carry-ons, an SUV or Navigator if you have checked bags, and a Sprinter when a team is flying together on one itinerary.
